Obfuscation of user profiles in ConnectionsExpert is controlled by the license key. This enables us to guarantee that country- or region-specific data protection regulations (e.g. GDPR) can be fulfilled from the beginning.
In general it is possible to deactivate or activate obfuscation at a later point in time. In this case, historical data is processed as follows:
- Obfuscation is activated: Obfuscation is also applied to historical data in the ConnectionsExpert data warehouse.
- Obfuscation is deactivated: As soon as obfuscation is deactivated in ConnectionExpert, user profiles are no longer obfuscated.

What happens, if an IBM Connections user is deleted? ("Right to be forgotten")
If IBM Connections users are deleted from the underlying database, all fields with personally identifiable information will not be available in ConnectionsExpert, too. However, this user's activity data will remain in the ConnectionsExpert data warehouse, since otherwise historical usage data would be distorted.
Regardless of the obfuscation settings, the stored data can no longer be associated with the deleted IBM Connections user.
